About Us

The European Organisation for Conformity Assessment (EOTC) was established in 1990 through the signature of a MoU by the EC, EFTA, CEN and CENELEC to constitute the focal point in Europe for all issues relating to conformity assessment. It was incorporated in 1993 as a non-profit organisation (aisbl) under the Belgian law.

EOTC’s objective is to constitute a focal point for the rationalisation and development of conformity assessment related activities in Europe. Thereby its role is to contribute to the free circulation of goods and services by providing the conditions under which all interests in the market can have confidence that products, services and processes, once tested or certified will not need repeat testing or certification for the results to be accepted by different parties or in different European countries.

Since 1995, EOTC has earned a reputation for the successful management and provision of information on Conformity Assessment related activities. It is recognised as one of the major European sources of reliable conformity assessment information.

Some of the factors which contributed to the success of this activity are EOTC’s independence & impartiality, customer service driven approach and the ability to communicate technical and legal information related to Conformity Assessment in a clear and concise manner.
